Decision Support Systems
Web-Based Decision Support System using AHP and WP Methods for Earthquake Sensor Selection
This web-based Decision Support System (DSS) is developed to assist in selecting the most suitable earthquake sensor devices. The system integrates two powerful multi-criteria decision-making methods: Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Weighted Product (WP), to ensure structured and objective evaluation based on expert-defined criteria.
The system enables users to input various sensor alternatives along with evaluation criteria such as sensitivity, durability, cost, data accuracy, and maintenance. It then processes the data through AHP for criteria weighting, and WP for final ranking of alternatives, resulting in a recommended sensor with the highest priority value.
Methodology:
- AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) is used to determine the relative importance (weights) of each criterion through pairwise comparison matrices.
- WP (Weighted Product) is applied to rank the alternatives based on the weighted multiplication of criteria values, providing a clear decision recommendation.
Benefits:
- Improves accuracy and objectivity in decision-making for sensor procurement.
- Reduces subjectivity by using quantitative and structured evaluation methods.
- Facilitates transparent decision tracking and comparison among sensor alternatives.
- Supports efficient collaboration between technical and procurement teams.
Building this project has been a journey of continuous learning and adaptation. I designed this system to not only support efficient project management but also to promote collaboration, clarity, and agility within teams. I hope it becomes a valuable tool for teams striving to deliver their best work.
